I’m Kelly and I currently teach English as a Second Language in an urban high school in the US. I teach beginner and intermediate ESL as well as the Regents ELA credit bearing course for ESL students. My classes run in 45 minute blocks with 15-20 students per class. I previously taught in the European Union and East Africa. I am an avid traveler and passionate advocate for our students. I love being an urban teacher and can’t see myself anywhere else.

I got interested in creating a blog as a place for ESL teachers to share their experiences and hopefully to help give you some ideas along the way. I envision this as a mix between educational discourse regarding ESL students, personal experiences in an urban environment and creative outlet for lesson ideas.

I hope you enjoy the site. Please feel free to comment or message me with any questions that you may have.

Happy teaching!

  1. Hi Kelly. I’m an education reporter working on a story about RCSD. I just read some of your posts and would love to speak with you. Can you call or email me? Realize it’s a holiday week but hope to chat for even a few minutes today, Tuesday 11/24, or Wednesday morning.
